Performance History

KTCI is proud of its history of performance on both meeting project schedules and budgets and providing top-quality engineering.

With a complete and specialized in-house design team, KTCI will be able to meet the most stringent schedules. This can be demonstrated best by our past performance.

Our in-house estimating group is trained in the development of construction cost estimates for commercial, private, municipal and government clients.

Budget Control

KTCI is always conscience of budget control during design. We practice the techniques of value engineering during the design to assure value is "designed-in." We have developed a total computerized management system to aid in keeping the project on schedule and within budget. Also, information is generated from other projects within the company to give management an indication of the anticipated future work load. There are three separate reports distributed each month. They are:

• Time Keeping System - summary of man-hours charged to the project.

• Manpower Planning Report - assigns a time schedule for completion.

• Project Cost Control Report - indicates hours and expenses charged to the project.

Familiarity with International Standards

We are familiar with the API, AWA ANSI and ASME technical manuals. We maintain a complete in-house library of all standards and recommended practices, the latest computer programs for pavement evaluation and terminal design, and runway data calculations for all aerodrome reference codes.

Communication

KTCI understands that things important to a client aren't necessarily the same things important to an architect, engineer or planner. Solving a problem is the easiest part of a project. Identifying the problem is sometimes harder, and the most challenging part is effectively communicating the result to a client.

Our professionals work closely with each client to define the client's needs, and then develop innovative and workable solutions. The KTCI difference is our people - each employee is an owner with a direct interest in satisfying our clients. The net result is a better and more efficient performance; our clients realize the payback with a quality product.

Resident Inspection Services

During the construction services phase, KTCI can provide highly qualified personnel at the project site and monitor all construction activities to verify compliance with the plans and specifications. We verify that all testing is performed as required by the contract documents, foresee problems and deal with them. The project resident representative maintains files on the project site, documenting all testing procedures and results, quantities of materials installed, as-built drawings, payment requests, daily diary, construction progress and inspection reports. Engineering personnel assigned in the office support the resident representative.

At the project's completion, we will perform final project inspection with the involved regulatory authority for project acceptance. We then will assist in contract closeout for final payment.

Quality Control

KTCI has a well-established quality assurance program that has proven to be effective. We adopted our current procedures in 2000. These procedures were developed from guidelines published by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in a section on Professional Engineers in Private Practice.

The quality control program provides a review of all aspects of your project at various milestones throughout its design execution. A project review team consisting of selected senior architects, engineers and/or support personnel, along with the project design team, performs reviews.

Quality control tasks are identified separately and are monitored within the accounting system. These include seven distinct quality control review subtasks, from concept to construction.

1Q. Conceptual design review by the project review team.

2Q. Preliminary design review by the project review team.

3Q. Drawing review by the design team.

4Q. Final design review by the project review team.

5Q. Rough draft specifications review by specifications department.

6Q. Final plans and specifications review by quality review   department.

7Q. Review of documented field changes by the design team.

KTCI is committed to producing high quality documents for our clients. The quality control process assists us in producing documents that reflect good engineering judgment.

CADD Capabilities

The technology available today greatly enhances our ability to communicate our plans and designs to the public contractors. High productivity and efficiency in the creation of engineering drawings are achieved through our various CADD systems.

In support of its CADD effort, KTCI employs the three most widely used systems, window 2000/casear/AutoCAD. AutoCAD is excellent personal computer-based drafting system.

We currently have 20 personal computers equipped with AutoCAD. An experienced group of programmers and computer systems specialists is available to assist with system operations.
